More Assignments

I have been given  more assignments from different modules. In Systems Analysis, we have been given a task to make adjustments to an incomplete system after been given answers to questions we asked in relation to the system, the questions and the respective answers are these:

  1. Why is there no computer network in the finance department? (There should be and that is what we intend to set up at the completion of your analysis and creation of a new information system for the company).
  2. Aren't the facilities used to store a wider range of records other than just the customer records? (Which facilities?)
  3. Is Ann Baker suited for the role at the leisure center? She did inherit the company from her father rather than apply for the job. (Since the company's business is expanding at the moment I would say that that is the answer to the question).
  4. Can bookings be made online for the sports facilities? (Not at the moment).
  5. Why are subsequent bookings allowed in the corporate bookings? The credit rating should be checked straight away before an account is created. (Credit ratings are checked, no company that fails the check is allowed to set up an account).
  6. How come the one star membership gets so little in return? (Management Decision).
  7. Have booking forms been filed wrong before or not been filed at all? They are all hard copies and may go missing. (This is a problem and needs to be computerized).
  8.  Are the time sheets and booking forms backed up somewhere? If any of these go missing it may cost someone their job. (Time-sheets - blank ones generated by HR, checked and completed ones go to HR and a copy goes to finance for Payroll purposes. Original time-sheets are kept in HR and a copy goes to finance for payroll generation. This data is inputted into a database in Finance. Manual copies are filed for backup, Book-up forms - computerized by the admin department but only done the day after the booking was taken so if something goes missing before then recovery is near impossible).
  9. Can the master booking file be an online database? (This would be more efficient).
  10. Who sends the invoices to the customers? (Finance department)
  11. Where do the rotas come from? (Individual facilities managers complete them and distribute to staff)

 this will allow our group to make the adjustments in accordance to the answers we have been given. The assignment in Hardware and Networks has us writing up about creating two separate systems in accordance to a specification  in the assignment brief. One of the specifications is for an office workstation and the other is for a file server that uses standard consumer parts (Which I think is a tad underwhelming in terms of design and specification).

First assignment from Professional Communication and Digital Skills

We've just been given our first assignment for the Professional Communication and Digital Skills module which is split into two parts. One is the creation of job specific documents such as a CV (Curriculum Vitae) and a covering letter which must be e-mailed in a PDF format to the tutor in charge of this module. One other document that must be e-mailed is a questionnaire about the roles and responsibilities of groups and teamwork.
The second part requires me to write a full fledged, professional report on the features of successful teams and groups alongside a group presentation (with other members of course). But we'd only get the second assignment sometime during the next year or so.
For the other modules, We already have our first assignment for Dynamic Web and Media which is a group task to write a document detailing the features and general layout of website and how websites are hosted on the web. Other than that, we have no other assignments for the other modules as of yet but it should not be long before we do.
